Hoh Rainforest Creek – 16″x20″ Photograph $200
For the longest time, this was the wallpaper image on my iPhone. I loved the serenity and calm that it provides me, and this particular trip was a very meaningful day for me. I had gone on a whim up to the Hoh Rainforest, and spent time hiking in a rainstorm. Taking photos with my large camera wasn’t really an option, since it was really too wet. But I could shield my phone camera pretty easily and took a number of photos that day. As I was heading back, I saw this creek and parked my car on the side of the road to take photos of it.
Images like these are possible on the iPhone because of the excellent camera apps available. In this image I used SlowShutterCam, which takes a series of shots as an overlaid image to create a similar effect to what a normal camera can do natively by leaving the shutter open for a few seconds. I’ve tried the Android platform, and there are a few good apps available for the Android phones and tablets — but this app works far better on the iPhone.
